Bill T. Jones—whose major honors include a MacArthur "Genius" Award, the Kennedy Center Honor and two Tony Awards for Best Choreography—returns to the stage in this West Coast premiere. Inspired by legendary artist and composer John Cage's Indeterminacy, in this performance of 70 one-minute short stories arranged by chance procedure, Jones creates a landscape of dance, music, and story, reflecting on the relentless passage of time and our memory of it. The piece features an original score created by Ted Coffey, who will perform live.
This performance is funded in part by the National Dance Project of the New England Foundation for the Arts. NDP is supported by lead funding from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, with additional funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the Community Connections Fund of the MetLife Foundation, and the Boeing Company Charitable Trust.
