Scoring a major triumph at the Met in 2010 with his electrifying performance as Alberich in Wagner's Das Rheingold, American bass-baritone Eric Owens has carved a unique place in the contemporary opera world as both an esteemed interpreter of classic works and a champion of new music. Acclaimed for his compelling stage presence and inventive artistry, he is equally at home in concert, recital, and opera performances. Bringing his powerful poise, expansive voice, and instinctive acting faculties to Cal Performances, Owens "commands the stage with a warm, sympathetic voice and presence" (Associated Press).
